O.K the fact that the price is astronomical is noted however why would you buy anything without first knowing the price? It is up to the consumer to check the price prior to making a purchase especially on items that CAN NOT BE RETURNED!!!!!!

Look at price before you pump. You can still drive off to another station. It doesn't take much upstairs to figure that out.

. "I always look at the pump prices before I pump my gas that is stupidity "
You look at the pump. It is $5.69. Your flight is in a little over 1 hour and you have to get the gas, turn in the car, check in, security, get to gate. And where you are is still 10 minutes from the rent-a-car turn in.
So, how much good did it do you to "...look at the pump prices before I pump my gas that is stupidity "?

. Are you familiar with 436 and what would be involved to get back to those stations that are north from the questionable sites, then return to the airport? No? Thought so.
You are also assuming the people stopping at the questionable sites KNOW where the other stations are--and that they would "go" in the right direction, well, just automatically. Oh, I know, they could just ask someone at the station where cheaper gas was located.
Hey, I agree, if you know where there is cheaper gas, and you have the time, by all means--go there.
But I am saying a lot of people caught in that situation don't know where other station are and/or don't have time to go somewhere else (must get the gas. get to airport, turn in the car, check in, go through security, and get to gate). Oh, I forgot, nobody is ever tight for time; they would have time to locate and go get cheaper gas, and return to airport, and have plenty of time. Sure.

There are (2) 7-11 locations, and a Mobil and Racetrac within 2 miles of that location.
As I said, laziness!

If you feel that is the case, then it is THEIR laziness and stupidity that gets them there in the first place. They can always turn around, and spend the extra 5 minutes -

. The people who are saying "customer's fault--drive off" clearly are not reading the thread. It is last station before airport rental return, and there are no normally priced stations near. Many renters do not have time to go somewhere else.

This guy needs to get a life. IF the customers are too LAZY too look and see what they are paying BEFORE they swipe their cards, then they have NO room to complain. NOBODY is holding a gun to their heads making them buy gas there!

"It's not a discount...it's that gas station's regular price (and usually the advertised price), which is typically the average....the 10 cents is above and beyond the regular (advertised) price, which is more like a penalty." Nice try though.

As NorthglennBill pointed out, this is the last station before you get to the rental car return area. If you've been to Orlando and rented a car at the airport you should remember that there are VERY limited options to refuel near the airport. Yes, all the smart renters fill the tank somewhere else, but there are always those who either don't remember to do that or simply don't allow enough time to do that, so they have a choice of being rippod off my the car rental agancy with their outrageous rates to fill the tank or being totally screwed by Suncoast Energys and Sun Gas. The article also notes that the stations are being fined $250/day. If my abacus is still working I think they're gouging about $2/gallon, so that $250 fine only takes about 15-20 fillups to recover. Every gallon after that is gravy. Orlando should raise the fine to something significant - maybe $2500, or $5000, or more. Seems like the city should be able to find out how many gallons these stations pump in an average day. Set the fine about $250 ABOVE that amount. I'll bet the stations would reconsider their pricing if they were actually losing money on every gallon they sold. Meanwhile, I'll throw out a whole bunch of ATTABOYs for Brian Feldman for making an effort to warn the public BEFORE they get to the pumps. I hope there may be a few others in town who will join with Brian to do that. It would be nice if the hotels and resorts in the area would warn their guests about these stations, too. Tell them when they check in that they need to fill up their rental car BEFORE they head to the airport.

This is the last station before you get back to rental car return and your last chance to avoid getting ripped off for gas by the rental car companies if you don't bring you tank back full. Suncoast has been taking advantage of this for a long time and has been making news (negitive news) along with it. Best advice, don't wait to fill up your rental car at the last station before the airport, any airport. They will all gouge you.

I suppose that's a good thing, but how does he find out the price to show his sign? I bet he has to go on the property to get the price off the pump. How long will it be before the owner bars him from the property? The other thing is.... UMMMMM you don't have to be an artist to do that so why are they making such a big deal about his art?

How is this gouging? People are free to drive to another station and this is America where the owner has the right to do any STUPID thing he wants with his business even includes pricing himself out of the market until he goes broke due to no more stupid cusomers! Like john747 said, "If someone starts pumping gas before they know what the pump price is then I had ZERO sympathy for them." Moral of the story? Be an informed shopper. Consult Gasbuddy and read the price on the pump.

Since these stations are still in business it means there are a lot of fools out there willing to grossly over pay for gas. I wonder how many of them are using expense reports to buy that gas?
