The Department of Energy released its weekly report on the condition of petroleum inventories in the United States today.

Here are some highlights:

Crude oil inventories decreased by 0.9 million barrels to a total of 358.6 million barrels. At 358.6 million barrels, inventories are 0.4 million barrels below last year (-0.1%) but remain above average. Supply down, demand up = prices up. We have plenty of oil, but we are not allowed to drill for it. Obama, EPA, Dept of Energy, all want oil and gas as high as they can drive it, TO MAKE THEIR GREEN AGENDA APPEAR TO BE MORE AFFORDABLE. Wake up America.

This DOE inventory report just proves how far off the American Petroleum Institute's report was from the previous day, and why I always say that the API should be completely ignored.

Wednesday's reaction to the API report resulted in more than a $2 spike in crude prices, just to discover Thursday that they were wrong. We paid for this misinformation through higher gas prices that followed.

0.4 down while gas prices are up almost 20% makes no sense to me, no supply and demand enconomics that I can see.

Wonder who counts all those barrels, and how do they count something that is constantly changing in volume?

We will see a price spike tomorrow of 20 cents.

So much for the SPR-IEA oil sales making a difference.

Its political effect has been spent.

With no effect on prices. Just helping BHO & Co. reelection as intended.

We do not need to get off oil. Besides speculators we have to many skeptics out there. Oil is not going to run out anytime soon.

If you think the report is useless, you do not have to read it and post. There are plenty of other articles you can read and post a response to get your points!

I find these reports useful to see what the speculators are doing - you can bet they take this information to help them manipulate the market.

Wholesale has gone up 14 cents since the 4th of July as of close today! Many retailers had been lowering the pump prices up until today, this evening local retail prices jumped from $3.47 to $3.57 and $3.59!

I expect tomorrow more of the local gas stations will follow, erasing most of the stations selling at $3.45 tonight! :(

ZIP 16833 is still at $3.45 for regular, but I expect tomorrow morning that will go up at least 10 cents more to $3.55! :(
