40% of refining capacity is along the Gulf Coast because that's the only place in the lower 48 where offshore drilling is permitted. If more areas were opened up to oil production we wouldn't be quite so anxious every time a storm approached the Gulf

Just the mere mention of a system forming should easily add 10 cents a gallon from speculation

PD, we don't need for you to be an apologist for Big Oil, Speculators, and greedy fuel retailers. You're playing into their massive efforts to so-muddy the waters that everyone else gets blamed except their greedy selves. I would have expected much better from you.

the storm is originating in Washington, DC, where Obama, the blowhard, dared Republicans to call his bluff...and they did.

Six weeks into the hurricane season and nothing.
Big oil is just waiting to use a storm as an excuse to raise prices. Raise prices because they need to meet payroll even though consumers are not buying gas.

Not helping any here north of the border - gas prices have remained high here throughout the past two months.

Obama wants gasoline prices up at "European levels" ($8-10 per gallon) so of course prices will climb again.

Fuel prices are up and do not need a hurricane season for that to happen. And the price of fuel at the pump is ‘still’ too high!
