I would use public transportation to get to work if it was available. I wish it would become more readily available, but I have been trying to carpool with a guy that I work with.

there should have been an option for bicycling. I've only driven to work 3 times all summer and I'll keep cycling until it get's too cold or there's snow on the ground

In the Houston metro area, unless you work downtown, public transportation like park and ride, is simply not widely available. Light commuter rail, of which there is only one line, passes through the Medical Center, but only on its way downtown. We have spent way too much of our taxes, both local and federal, on freeway construction and re-construction and precious little, by comparison, on mass transit and public transportation.

Bus, Train, Train, Bus = 4 transfers and approx 2 hours.

I will stick with my 20 minute drive. Not to mention it is a little hard to pick up kids and go to activities on the way home

Suburb to suburb public transport doesn't really work with less than three transfers.

Nobody at work to carpool with.

Hoping to convince management that telecommuting is good and be able to do that a day or two per week.

I recently moved 30 miles away from work. Fortunately 2 co-workers live in the same community and I drive every 3rd week. I do budget $200 a month for gas which with 2 adults in the house we've come in under budget the last 2 months:)

We don't have the option of public transportation where I live. But I've tried to cut back on extra trips to the store to conserve fuel.

The questions choices are too restrictive, none are relative to me. I use public transportation when it's more viable; such as when going into Manhattan.

If I have to get somewhere, my vehicle is the preferred mode of transportation. Since the significant rise in gas prices, I simply have curtailed less essential trips.

And, thank goodness for GPS.

I checked N/A however, I do not use the public transportation that is available. We are retired and plan our day as to get the best advantage out of our daily trips. Have a fuel efficient car and at the most refuel every 2 weeks.

Voted no change, then realized it should have been N/A. Gone on business travel in a rural area, so neither carpooling nor public transportation were options.

No but not due to the parenthetical reason given. I'm retired, I just go places less. Would consider public transpo if the need arose.

We have public transportation in Midland and neighboring Odessa.

I have to use my personal car, since I don't have a company car, for meetings and a few errands, but I try to consolidate trips.

Yes - I'm using them a lot more

I chose this option because my husband and I carpool every day to work, but public transportation is not available to me anyways.
